Instructor Bio

Dan is a Software Development Engineer for Amazon Web Services at the Amazon Development Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, working on the Cloud9 IDE. Previously, he was a Preceptor in Computer Science at Harvard University working on curriculum design and research for the introductory sequence of Computer Science classes at Harvard College. Further back, he was a masters student at UC Berkeley studying Computer Science with a focus on online education, advised by Professors Dan Garcia and Armando Fox. His work investigated student metacognition in online courses through an adaptive exercise system that customized the progression of question topics to each student. Since 2007, Dan has taught numerous courses at Harvard Extension and UC Berkeley. Outside of work, he enjoys photography and climbing.
